Greetings and welcome to our site. If you missed Founders Day in Wichita, you missed a great time. It was a momentous occasion. I cannot help but to wonder if the founders of this great fraternity had any idea that we would grow to more than 175,000 members worldwide. On November 17, 2009 we stood remembering and recognizing the labors of three undergraduate students, as well as their faculty advisor on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. Our four cardinal principles; Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift, continue to serve as the foundation of greatness that you will find in real Omega men. Each founder was addressed as Professor, Doctor, or Bishop. To this day, we aspire to achieve the greatness experienced by these men, at a time when society was not receptive to accomplishment of men of color.
As we move into our new fraternal year, we must remain on track and continue to support the initiatives our leadership teams on the District and National levels have programmed. We recently were given permission to join the ranks of other Greek letter organizations on the campus of Wichita State University, and have reactivated our undergraduate chapter. Although small, we are eagerly and aggressively seeking young men that already exhibit the characteristics of our four cardinal principals. Many are called, but the chosen are few. Omega must continue to select only the best men available for this life long endeavor. In addition, we are putting great energy and effort into reaching brothers that may have become to busy to participate as well as keep the brothers that we have, actively involved.
Upcoming events where you can see Omega men serving the community are the Annual Christmas Dinner that we prepare and serve for senior citizens in our community, the Martin Luther King Day Celebration, and the 2nd Annual NPHC Masquerade Ball. Also, don’t forget to come by The Kansas African American Museum and check out the tree that the Omega family decorated. It is the one dressed in purple and gold.
Please feel free to contact us if there is a way that we can be of service. We look forward to continued service to our community. I pray Gods riches blessings on each and every one of you.
Respectfully,
Harry Willis
